Do they rehearse?

I'm wondering if somebody has insight on rehearsal, preparation and subbing in top international jazz tours and shows.

These bands are most of the time an ensemble of busy top freelance musicians.

I know it's jazz and improvisation but do they rehearse or just meet at the first night and start from there?

For example, will Vinnie rehearse with the band for those 2 filling in gigs with Chick Corea? This gig is obviously no piece of cake but does he have time to rehearse? Does he want or need to? Will Chick Corea insist for long rehearsals or just a quick look at the charts during soundcheck is OK?

They might do a rehearsal and just read down the charts during the gig. I doubt any serious long days of rehearsal will go into it though.

...Agreed, RW...these guys play sooo much as it is w sooo many diff artists & styles that they're not likely to lose their chops or touch... & besides, they r just THAT GOOD [img]eek.gif[/img] ....
